This work package is designed to define and develop concepts and requirements for automating train preparation to further improve efficiency and safety. For example, an automatic brake test, linked to the operator’s database, will significantly shorten train preparation times while increasing safety. Or, an autonomous locomotive startup, with subsequent heating or cooling of auxiliaries, or automated train data entry will reduce the lead time in the start-up assignment.
